Hello, my name is Roy Ford and I am the author and owner of onestopgolfing.com. I have been a passionate golfer for over 10 years, although day jobs and family commitments get in the way sometimes, just like all of us. I love sharing my experiences, tips, and insights with others who share my love of the game.

I have played courses all over the world due to my job affording me the luxury of living and working in different places including the UK, France, Thailand, hong Kong, China, Australia, Indonesia and Malaysia where i currently find myself for a couple of years with some free time.

When not in front of this aging laptop i will be on Penang Golf course, one of the five depending who is driving that day!

So using this free time I have started this site as a way to document my personal journey on the golf course, and to connect with other golfers who are looking to improve their game, look for tips, check out golfing gear, or just learn some of the options to get involved in golf. Whether you’re a beginner or a seasoned pro, I hope that you’ll find something of value here.

On this site you’ll find posts and pages about:

  • My own personal golf experiences and lessons learned
  • Product reviews and recommendations
  • Some Course reviews and images ( and tips if we did well enough!)
  • Tips and tricks for improving your swing and overall game
  • Interviews with other golf enthusiasts and professionals where we can.
  • tips on how to access golf whereever you are
  • Some history lessons on the weird and not so weird rules and traditions of golf.

Where possible we will use our own images, we have to justify the cost of that camera somehow!, but we are not professional photographers, or golfers for that matter, so bear with us if they are not quite as slick as others!

My Golfing Journey

My entry into golf started early then took a very long ( too long) hiatus while real life got in the way. My first experiences on mini golf ah pretty much long forgotten but i still remember the first time a friend, and pretty good golfer for their age – which was about 15 at the time – took me to a local pitch and putt (3 par) and although i was pretty terrible, i wasn’t as terrible as i thought i perhaps might be, and went again a few times, using the clubs from the local course and my friends golf balls.

However, the golfing bug didn’t quite catch me at that time and it wasn’t till i was working overseas and met a few golfers when i decided to try my hand again. This time it stuck and that was about 12 years ago. I was as terrible when iw as older as i was when i was just a teenager, but it didn’t bother me.

I enjoyed being outside, the club was lovely, the people were great and over time i got better, not great, but better and ended up playing at around an 18 handicap. My aim for the next couple of years is to play in the low 90s, and get to 15 which is where my friends currently play.

its fine but sometimes a little annoying taking those extra putts when they are ready to move on!
